"I want to make their medallions!" - Cailleach Dhe ingen Chiarain
I decided, upon hearing that my dearest friends were to be given medallions, to weave them out of chainmaille.
While chainmaille jewelry is not historically period, some of the methodology is. I work exclusively in what is referred to as "butted maille", which means that the two ends of the rings butt up together to make a closure of a circle. This style of weaving can be dated back into Norse era, with extent examples being found.
There will be more words to this, along with process. Work in progress.
