Barony of Buckland Cross': A Cornicopia of Champions.
Materials: COE 104 Glass
On September 13, 2025, I had the honor and privilege of entering my Dover, Buckland strand into the Arts & Sciences Championship for the Barony of Buckland Cross. As our A&S Minister, I was asked to put together the competition.
As we choose our first Arts & Sciences Champion, the Barony’s current Minister of Arts and Sciences, THLady Cailleach, wishes to see you began, and how far you have come. Please bring the project that shows your growth throughout time. It can be anything from one artistic piece created over time, or a collection of many. Extra points if you can relate your project to “new beginnings” to honor the premier Baronial champion title, or “Autumn” to align with this year’s theme.
We will be using the Basic A&S Scoring Sheet to guide our judging.
The three main categories we will be looking at are:
-Challenge and Execution
-Materials and Methods
-Historical Context and Sources
Documentation: We would ask all artisans to engage in at least one form of explanation of their process, sources, and inspiration - written or verbal. While not officially required, we will give extra acclaim to artisans who provide a brief write-up (1-2 pages) of their work. Please be sure to tell us what inspired you to create this piece of work!
I had specifically asked permission from both His Excellency Bhakail, and Their Excellencies Buckland Cross to allow me to compete as it meant the world to me to be able to show this type of support for my now-home Barony.
These were my words at the end of the day:
Not only did today bring the most perfect weather to Steward my barony 's Buckland's Bounty: A Cornucopia of Champions , but it brought a Mr. Softee ice cream truck, a token of thanks from the Baron and Baroness for organizing the day, my induction into the Order of the Able Heart (our Baronial award for service), but I was also named the PREMIER Arts & Sciences Champion of Buckland Cross. I am overwhelmed with all the feels, and am deeply grateful for this path I'm walking. My heartfelt thanks go to all who are walking alongside me.
